 Two advancements were made quickly:  Oncogenes: cells that cluster to form tumors  Tumor suppressor genes (anti-oncogene): tries to prevent tumor from forming  Age and habits can heighten a person’s risk for cancer  Tobacco, sunlight, power lines, hormones, family history, eating habits, lack of physical activity, being overweight, promiscuity

 “Chemo”  Use of chemical drugs to suppress cancer  Kills both bad cells and some good cells such as follicles (hair cells)
