10 Facts  1.He graduated and got a diploma from Technical University of Munich and Ph.D. in physics from the University of Munich.  2.His observation of Bose-Einstein condensation in a gas in 1995 and the first realization of an atom laser in 1997 were recognized with the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2001.

10 Facts (continued)  3.He leads a research group exploring the properties of ultracold gases.  4.He made an observation of Bose- Einstein condensation (BEC) in an atomic gas.

10 Facts (continued) 5. He had the first realization of an atom laser He developed important tools to manipulate and study Bose-Einstein condensates.

10 Facts (continued)  7.He made several seminal studies of the properties of Bose- Einstein condensates.  8.He developed an optical trap to confine condensates and transport them over large distances.

10 Facts (continued)  9.He made the first measurement of the speed of sound.  10.Wolfgang Ketterle is a fellow of the American Physical Society.
