Electrolytes The Electrolytes in Gatorade are Sodium Chloride, Sodium Citrate and Mono Potassium Phosphate. The Electrolytes in Gatorade help refuel you when you sweat. Gatorade is low in sodium, it has the same amount of salt as a glass of milk or a slice of bread. This is a diagram of electrolysis cell

Sweeteners Sucrose, Glucose, and Fructose Provide the carbohydrates that supply your muscles with energy. Also these sugars make Gatorade taste good, so you'll drink enough to replace all the fluid you've lost during physical activity. So its not a chore to drink it. Sugar

Gets you rehydrated fast. During exercise, your body is getting dehydrated, losing fluids and sodium in sweat which aren't replaced right away. The fluids and small amount of sodium in Gatorade replace what you lose when you sweat, so your body is rehydrated and can continue to do work. Tests have shown Gatorade rehydrates better than diet drinks or even water.
