“The educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living differ from the dead.”~ Aristotle Vol. 5 Yr. 2 See what’s happening at Lacey’s Spring School with … December 2012 Wow!!! What a blur this school year has been!?! It is already half way completed. I wanted to take the time to let you know some of the activities that the PTO will be involved in during the January timeframe. Our annual Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough fundraiser will begin at the end of January. We will have more on this as it approaches. Also, in light of the tragedy that occurred in Connecticut, the PTO have asked the question of what can we do to help make our children safer while at school. We are working with Mr. Alexander and the county to determine ways in which we can all make the school a safer place to be. Please remember the families in Connecticut in your prayers. I am sure they need them. And as always, thank you for your support of our school! ---LS PTO Officers A Note from the Principal, Mr. Lane Alexander Hello to everyone, I want to take this time to thank our PTO for the outstanding job they are doing for our school !! We appreciate also the efforts of our teachers, parents, and students in the fundraising that has been done thus far. The first semester has quickly wound down and we want our students to come back refreshed and ready to excel in their studies. So please encourage your children in their studies and their attendance. Let me remind you to come out and support our basketball teams in their remaining games. GO EAGLES !! I hope you have a happy and safe holiday season ! PTO Officers and s Steve Carlton, President: Lisa Smith, Secretary: Amanda Carlton, Vice President: Lisa Gilmore, Treasurer: Upcoming Events *Second Semester Begins January 3 rd, 2013 *PTO Meeting January 8 th, 2013 *MLK Day (No School) January 21 st, 2013 *Annual Cookie Dough Fundraiser Jan 28 – Feb 11 th *PTO Meeting February 12 th, 2013 To begin with, I would like to express my appreciation for the support that has been given to the PTO towards the fundraising activities we have completed. As I stated in our previous newsletter, the PTO was able to cover the majority of the budget items he have for this year. This could not have happened without your support. However, we do have some things that have been discussed in helping the school with over and above the budget items. The majority of the schools computers are run down and out dated. It is our goal to be able to upgrade each of the teachers computers that are needed. In the next couple of weeks, we will be kicking off our winter fundraiser of Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough. This was a great fundraiser for us last year. Please join me in our Cookie Dough for Computers fund-drive.

Vol. 5 See what’s happening at Lacey’s Spring School with … December 2012 Growing up QUICK!!!… Look Out for the 3 rd Grade… What a great year we are having in Third Grade! We are learning all about plants and chemicals and how we get our food from the farmers. We even got to go and see some of the different farm industries on our Alpha farm field trip. We also got to meet Petunia the cow from Auburn University! We have also learned to play the violin and got to play them for our parents. We will get to do it again in January. Yeah! We have been learning how to multiply. It is not as hard as we thought it would be! We planned a trip to the movies for our Christmas party to see “Rise of the Guardians.” It was AWESOME!!!. We will be traveling with the Fourth Grade to Montgomery in the spring to see our capitol. What an amazing year! Third Grade IS Awesome!! This month the AWESOME EAGLE EYE newsletter will highlight the activities and achievements of the Lacey’s Spring 3 rd graders. This is an exciting time in their lives, and each and every day presents new opportunities… Very Christmas-y Lunch with Grandma = Awesome Almost Looks Like Santa!!! What Great Taste!!!
