Visual Rhetoric Presentation By: Ryan Edmunds

Background Info. This ad was created by America's Dairy Farmers and Milk Processors. They ran this paper advertisement that came from a 2003 magazine and features The HULK endorsing milk.

Questions What is the first thing that you notice? What is the second thing you noticed? Why do you think the advertisers used The Hulk in this poster?

Analyze The first thing I noticed was The Hulk obviously because it took up the most space in the ad The second I noticed was the text at the bottom that says “got milk?” and the milk mustache on the hulk I think they used The Hulk because he symbolizes strength to little kids and the advertisers are trying to get everyone to drink more milk so they can get big and strong “like the Hulk”

Audience I think the audience for this picture would be just about anyone that looks at the poster but I believe it really targets little kids. A lot of kids always want to be big and strong like the hulk so this ad could get them to drink more milk.

Appeals I think that this ad has pathos. I think that it has pathos because its trying to show you that if you drink a lot of milk it can make you big and strong like the hulk and your bones will never break.

Composition The artist used contrast in this ad by making the Hulk a dark green but then putting the white letters and the milk mustache on him that really stand out to the rest of the picture and it catches your eye.
