Oral Production Year 2 R.H. Davis

Our book

Topics  Chapter 6 Video Games  Chapter 7 Good mood foods  Chapter 8 An Ice Place to Stay  Chapter 9 Staying Healthy  Chapter 10 Endangered Languages

Goals  Speak well  Listen well  Act well

Speak well  I will encourage students to speak as much as possible.  The more you speak the better I can correct the little mistakes.  Please don ’ t be shy!

Listen Well  There is a CD and I will be using it A LOT!  This will be where your homework will come from  The more you listen the easier it become. Sometimes you will have to listen 10 time to just one sentence.

Act Well  I hope that I can introduce some cultural aspects that might give you pause.  I want to make you feel safe when speaking with a native English speaker.  To do this I will have to explain what is acceptable behavior. (i.e. no hats inside)

Grading  The grading will be done as follows:  Attendance and participation 20%  Homework 10%  Quizzes20%  Midterm20%  Final 30%

Success!  I have three major suggestions for you to find success in my class.  1. Try- Everyone ’ s ability will be different; if you are great at English but don ’ t work hard, this will be bad. I will reward the student whose English is not as good but tries hard.  2. Don ’ t miss a lot of classes. I know emergencies happen, but I do take attendance and will know if you miss too much. Also, your grades will suffer.  3. Leave your pride at home. We will be doing lots of silly and fun activities and if you are worried about looking bad then you will not grow.

My Goals  My goal for myself is to better understand you, the students. Each of you is a person and each of you brings something different to the class. I must better understand you and your problems so that I can quickly and efficiently fix them
