1 3A have been reading the book ‘The little refugee’ by Anh Do
3A have been reading the book ‘The little refugee’ by Anh Do. We have been investigating what life is like for refugees and what we can do to help. These are the blog response from some students in 3A when asked to think of ways to help refugees and why it is important to help others.

2 Danielle says: 27 Oct 2014 at 10:22 AM we can help refugees by telling lots of stuff that we do in our country. Like helping them to speak English because they do not know the language. We could help them by giving them some of our stuff because they do not come to our country with very many things. We could also tell them what to bring to school in case the teacher doesn't have any spare things. I would tell them what to do in any emergencies. It is very important to help refugees because they might be very scared. Alexander says: 27 Oct 2014 at 10:30 AM How I can help a refugee. You can help by having a fundraiser and with the money you get buy food and clothes for the refugees. You can also teach them your language you speak. You can also ask your parents or your family if a refugee can live with you or stay with you until they can get some money to buy food and a house for themselves. It is important to help a refugee because they have no money, food or a home. Kheegan says: 27 Oct 2014 at 10:35 AM I'd give refugee kids some of my clothes if they didn't fit me so that they would have something clean to wear.

3 Emily says: 27 Oct 2014 at 10:37 AM To help refugees we can see if they need help with their work if they are in your class. We can help them around so they know where they're going. Ask if they need help with learning English and writing English. Its important to help refugees. Why is it important? because if you didn't help them they'd be lonely and sad then no one would go along and help them and the refugees would think they're country is better. So if you didn't help refugees then they wouldn't learn much English they wouldn't have friends and they definitely would NOT like our country. So make sure work as a team to help refugees. Peter says: 27 Oct 2014 at 10:38 AM We should treat them like we want to be treated and treat them like they belong here. We don't be rude to them or they be rude to us. They're new at school so show them around, that is how you want to be treated. Marcus says: 27 Oct 2014 at 10:40 AM We can help refugees a lot you might not know it but trust me we can. We can donate money, we can help them learn English and things like that. Just the smallest things would help them out. I would let them use my stuff because that would make them feel comfortable. You can donate clothes. What's the purpose to this? Well how would you feel if that happened to you? You would want other people to help you so why don't you come and help.

4 Amy says: 27 Oct 2014 at 10:47 AM Why we should help refugees? I personally think we should help them so we can be a better country and have more people in it and we will be multi-cultural place we should be grateful for what we have. No one should have to suffer in war so what I would say is 'stop the war have a grateful heart that we are alive. Use your brain to help and if your good at building fix those broken houses and if your good cook, cook for everyone and that's not all personally look out for everyone even if you are from a different religion or culture it does not matter love everyone and they will love you. Jasper says: 27 Oct 2014 at 10:41 AM Help, be nice, play games, go to the park, go to each other's houses and share toys. Play hide and seek have sleep overs, go on camps. I would not push, be mean or rude to a refugee. I would do this to make sure they aren't scared anymore and so they feel safe.
