What does each organ system to do keep our bodies functioning properly?

Bones connect at JOINTS. An adult human has 206 bones. The bones in your spine are called VERTEBRAE. The SKULL bone protects your head. The RIB CAGE protects your lungs, heart, and liver. BONE MARROW is at the center of bone. READY

There are 3 parts of the BRAIN SPINAL CORD NERVES This system controls EVERYTHING we do! READY

We breath in (inhale) OXYGEN and breath out (exhale) CARBON DIOXIDE. Trachea = WIND PIPE READY

The heart has FOUR CHAMBERS. CIRCULATION is the movement of blood throughout the body. The sound we hear comes from the VALVES of the heart closing! READY

The CARDIAC muscle pumps blood throughout your body. SMOOTH muscle is found in your digestive system. SKELETAL muscles give your body strength and the ability to move. TENDONS connect muscles and bones together. Some of your biggest and most powerful muscles are in your back near your spine. READY

The LIVER removes harmful substances from the blood. The ESOPHAGUS moves chewed food from the back of the throat to the stomach. Adult SMALL INTESTINES are 22 feet long. READY

Urine is stored in the BLADDER until you’re ready to pee (urinate). URETERS carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder. Urine exits the body through a tube called the URETHRA. KIDNEYS filter wastes from the blood. READY

The SKIN is the largest organ. MELANIN gives skin its color. READY
