The Need For Strong Families Functions of the family include: Love and affection Security Protection Education Teaching values Economic support Procreation Guidance Socialization Recreation

Family is the basic unit of Society. What are ways that you as individuals impact your society in positive ways? What are examples you’ve seen of people impacting society negatively?

Family Law Taxes and interest rates influence how much money families have to spend Some laws set up programs for people who are poor, out of work, or need help Local, state, and national laws can also affect the education of children National Social Security laws have an impact on older family members

Business World Why do businesses want strong families? When workers have problems at home, their work often suffers too. Stress at work affects how workers relate to each other. It can also affect how workers relate to others in their families If employers are flexible, it can make it easier for working parents to meet their children’s needs. When employers create helpful family policies, both sides gain. Home life is better and people are happier which makes more effective workers.

The Family’s Responsibility What makes a family strong? What makes a family weak? With a partner make a list of specific ways that families can make more time to be together. You can come up with different ideas to fit different family situations.

Good relationships and strong families depend on these types of interpersonal skills: Communication Skills Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Skills Management Skills Conflict Resolution Skills

All families have problems. What do families need to help them solve their problems? They need to know: Family should always come first EVERY family member must contribute to the family Change is always possible
