Families stayed connected by: Families lived: Food, clothing, education Farm, local community Cooking, cleaning, making soap, etc. Writing letters, visiting Close to relatives Food, clothing and services are made by others May commute, travel, or work at home New appliances make housework easier, hire cleaning services Electronic entertainment allows family to enjoy separate activities Texting, Cell phone, Skype Family members are all over the country
