A turtle can live to be 30 to 100 years old. What Is A Turtle? A turtle can live to be 30 to 100 years old. They are old! Scientists believe they were here before the dinosaurs. A turtle is a cold blooded Animal, along with snakes and iguanas. Fabulous Fact: A baby turtle uses it’s tooth to crack it’s own egg.

First the mother turtle lays an egg. Then the egg cracks. Then there’s the baby turtle and after a few years it is a full grown turtle.

Body Parts Turtles have a shell on their back that protects their body. When they get scared they go in their shells and play dead! Turtles have feet,a head,claws,and and shell. They have claws to protect their selves. WELL…how do they protect their selves? THEY CLAW!!! Their claws are on their feet. They use their shells for safety. All turtles have claws but may not use them.

Babies Being Born In their cozy nest they stay in their eggs for about 2 to 3 months. Then the egg is ready to crack open. The baby turtles are so small! A mom helps a baby turtle by bringing it food and it protects the baby from predators. Fabulous Fact! Some turtles will lay their eggs in A warm pot of soil.

Turtle Habitats Turtles can live all around the world. They live in cold places or warm. They live in wetlands, forests or deserts. They can live in places like lakes, swamps, rivers and streams. They like dry sandy areas. They wet their selves by getting in water.

Turtles as pets Turtles are great pets for class rooms and regular pets too! They eat fruits, and other animals that are meat eaters and they eat insects. They are great pets and they need to crawl around.

About The Author Hi! My name is Mackenzie Warden. My favorite color is orange. I like cheese pizza. I was born on December 22,2002. I am eight years old. I do dance at Mitzi’s. I like coloring. I have three family members. I live with my mom, dad, and brother. I have 2 dogs named Chase and Ginger.
