Paintings by René Magritte, a famous Surrealist artist, will be introduced and discussed (as well as others depending on time). Drawing: Introduction to 1 Point Perspective (task 1) What does perspective mean? Task 1: 1.Create a horizon line, then create a point on the horizon line (vanishing point). 2.Practice by drawing simple box shapes with low and high angles. (use a ruler) 3.If you finish early practice adding in value.

Student work

Task 2: Try drawing a room in 1 Point perspective. First draw the back wall, then set a vanishing point slightly off centre to make it look more interesting. Try adding in a chair, shelf or a bookcase, bed, window or rug to begin with. Don't get to complicated. Keep in mind what you learned from the first task. Drawing: Introduction to 1 Point Perspective (task 2) Be creative don't just try what is here :o)
