EARTHQUAKES by Shinya Masuda Kanako Hasegawa Kanako Hasegawa

How does an earthquake occur? The surface of the earth is always sliding Sometimes plates crash into each other OR go under each other go under each other This results in an EARTHQUAKE  !!!

Kobe, Japan (January 17, 1995) Historical Earthquakes

Sumatra, Indonesia (October 24, 2007 )

What can we do during an earthquake?  Protect yourself and your family!  Turn off gas!  Don’t panic!  Don’t use cars!  Watch out for… … Falling Rocks … Landslides … Tsunami

What should we do to be ready for in an earthquake?  Know your evacuation area.  Prepare food (water, canned food)  Put all necessities in one place/box, such as medicine, a flash light, radio etc.  Most importantly be calm!
