 Organization evolves with each new generation of members  Develop future IEEE leaders  Recruit and develop volunteers for Sections  Increase retention rate  Increase participation in all events  Align IEEE with latest technological trends 7

 GOLD Focuses on the needs of young professionals  GOLD gives young professionals a home at IEEE, which in turn increases member retention  GOLD is an Affinity Group and is generally non-technical, similar to other Affinity Groups ◦ Women In Engineering, ◦ Life Members ◦ Consultants Network 8

 What are the needs of GOLD members? ◦ Learn about Engineering life… (Non-technical)  Professional development  Career advancement  Continuing education  Personal Development ◦ Networking with senior members and industry 9  Entrepreneurship  Intellectual property  Professional Engineering  Social

 GOLD brings in new members – future professionals  Systems engineering is socio-technical…  Early career is good time to choose a direction  Systems engineering is valuable to all engineers. Young engineers need to know…  GOLD is a place were professionals of various disciplines come together 10

 How can we introduce GOLD members to the activities and interests of IEEE System Council? ◦ Social events with some technical flavor ◦ Guidance on the systems engineering career path ◦ Continuing education in systems engineering and related fields ◦ STEP events, introducing new graduates to Systems Engineering, as they enter the professional world ◦ Workshops for young professionals, touching on topics relevant to Systems, hence to all engineers, such as:  Risk Management  Project Management  Robust Design  The “ilities” 11  Human Factors  SysML  System Dynamics  …and so on.

 Systems engineering should be promoted – what better place to begin than with young professionals?  GOLD Affinity Group focuses on non-technical needs of newly graduated IEEE members and young professionals.  Any suggestions are more than welcome! 12
