East Central Division Rival U Challenge 2013 challenge begins…October 16 th

Our Goal… 82 colleges and universities across Pennsylvania and Ohio are given the opportunity to increase Relay awareness and registration early through a series of fun challenges this Fall!

The Challenge… Each week is a new round, and each round involves another series of challenges. Week 1 – “Freshmen Year” : October 16 th – 22 nd Week 2 – “Sophomore Year”: October 23 rd – 29 th Week 3 – “Junior Year”: October 30 th – November 5 th Week 4 – “Senior Year”: November 6 th – 12 th Finalists Announced: November 13 th Final Blitz Round: November 14 th – 18 th “Graduation”: November 19 th - Winner Announced! Every week is a new ‘school year’, filled with more involved challenges and more competitive classmates.

Week One… October 16-22

Week Two… October 23-29

Week Three… October 30 – November 5

Week Four… November 6-12

BLITZ ROUND! November 13 th:  2013 Rival U finalists & Wild Card announced November 14 th – 18 th :  Top two schools from Rival U competition, along with the Wild Card school, compete in a fundraising blitz!  School with the highest % increase in online fundraising dollars during the blitz will become the Rival U graduate. November 19 th :  2013 Rival U Graduate Announced!!

How Does the Challenge Work?  Rival U 2013 is based on a points system, with schools earning points for each activity they complete. Each week an updated leader board will be posted to reflect the current standings.  Bonus! Any school who completes all activities in a given week will earn bonus points.

Why Join the Challenge?  Rival U is designed to create a Relay culture on every campus with the goal of making Relay THE thing to do.  Schools that participated in 2012 saw substantial growth in the fall…and you can too!

What Does the Winning School Receive? Pimp My Relay!! Yep, you heard correctly Pimp My Relay Prize Package! Guaranteed 2 members of the Relay Business Unit will travel to the winning campus to decorate their Relay day of event. The winning committee will have a menu of options to choose from, and details will be arranged with the staff partner and lead volunteers through 2 conference calls prior to the event. Note: The Rival U Winter Graduate School Prize Package: Day of event cheer box for the committee. [only fall semester events eligible to achieve winter graduate prize.]

Where Do I Begin?  Spread the word around campus – check out the great promo materials available at  Build a plan – dividing the tasks among your committee members  Pump up all your teams and participants and promote, promote, promote!  Keep up with the weekly challenges & deadlines throughout the competition.

What If My School Isn’t at the Top? What Now? Don’t give up yet! During the final round in Week Four, ACS will randomly pick one school to compete in the Final Blitz Round: a wild card. By definition, a wild card is a position awarded to a team that did not qualify normally. This school must have earned a minimum of 25 points to be eligible for the wild card drawing. So don’t worry if struggle to complete every challenge each week – you still have a chance of gradating!
