Fall 2017 Orientation

2 The PLP Mission: The PLP Vision:
The purpose of PLP is to give our students exposure to leadership skills needed to be a servant leader in any of their future endeavors. This is accomplished through providing students with the opportunity to network with the corporate community, attend weekly employability development programs, and be engaged in a year-long mentor relationship with seasoned professionals from for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. The PLP Vision: To continually be recognized in the education and business sectors as an exceptional leadership development and mentoring program and to serve as a model for partnerships between the university, students, community, and businesses.

Specific- well defined, clear to anyone Measurable- break it down to specifics with deadlines Attainable- is it achievable in the timeframe Relevant- is it inspiring and important to you Time bound- set a deadline, give enough time to achieve the goal but also to challenge you Example: “I will attend a networking events this semester, speak with 3 people about their career, and get 1-2 business cards to follow-up.” Use the comments section to update your SD on your goals. How are they going? Have you achieved them? What else needs to be done for you to achieve them? Area Ideas for goals: Professional learning or development, attendance or engagement goals, personal goals, certifications, networking goals, career placement, skill development, public speaking, etc.
