PARENT/COACH RELATIONSHIPS AT MIDWAY Understanding and respecting the position of both parents and coaches will help enhance the athletic experience for our athletes.

Appropriate Concerns to Discuss with the Coach 1.The coach’s interaction with your daughter 2.How the coach can help your daughter become a better athlete and student 3.Concerns about your daughter’s interactions with others

AREAS LEFT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE COACH 1.TEAM STRATEGY 2.OTHER ATHLETES OR OTHER SITUATIONS NOT INVOLVING YOUR DAUGHTER 3.PLAYING TIME

Steps for a concern 1)FIRST -Visit with your child and listen to them without influencing their feelings. They often understand far more than the parents do. 2)Second -Have your athlete speak to the coaches 3)Finally- Coach Porter, Coach Thomas or Coach Roberts to set up an appointment Please do not attempt to confront a coach after a game or practice. Emotions are running too high and will not result in a positive resolution

Parent Code of Conduct 1.Love and support your child and the team, win or lose 2.Be realistic about your child’s abilities 3.Be positive and encouraging at all times 4.Respect the coach’s decisions and encourage others to do the same 5.Realize that we are in this together. 6. Please let the coaches do their job!

MISC. Policies Games: After some matches, parents will be allowed to sign their daughter out. Players are not allowed to ride with other parents. (MISD policy) Lockers: Every player will have a locker and a lock. It is the player’s responsibility to LOCK everything in their locker every day. Lockers should be kept CLEAN! Hygiene: Knee pads, spandex, socks, and practice clothing should be kept clean to help avoid staph infections.

V a l u e S y s t e m Practice – Prepare to WIN every day, fundamentals, mental preparation Accountability – Your decisions and actions have an impact on your team. Ntegrity – Do what’s right even when nobody is watching. Teamwork – Success is never achieved alone. Encourage your teammates. Honesty – Be honest and truthful in everything that you do. Effort – What is the best I can give? Respect – Respect yourself, the game, and your opponent. Service – Give your time and energy to help those in need
