The number of literate people in the Midlands showed a steady increase over the ten-year period (from 70% in 1998 to 85% in 2007). On the contrary, the number of literate people in the Highlands declined steadily. In 1998, 50 % of the population was literate, but this number decreased gradually in the following years – It was only 30% in This data may help researchers make suitable plans for educational development in each area of the country.
