Presentation transcript:

E-portfolio – Business Case Initial thoughts Stuart/Nigel/Hema

Overall Key summary document of achievements and experience for learners, joins-up a person’s time lines It can be interactive, involving parents, employers, etc. Promotes reflection and recording for focused activities Potentially easier to manage than paper-based Can accept files and materials from a wide range of different media Control of contents and ability to open access to others when needed Can provide a stimulus for planning and help identify skills for activities in new contexts Easy to update? Provides services for the user e.g. single sign-on

Presentation Access to key/relevant aspects of the person’s experience and achievements Easy to contextualise information Easy to publish content in a number of formats e.g. PowerPoint Being able to upload files and link to websites e.g. “My Space” Links to validated transcripts and award documentation

Learning Consolidates learning Identifies learning needs Record of how, as well as what was learned – shows how progression was achieved Provides opportunities to make links between learning in different contexts e.g. formal – non-formal - informal

Assessment Organises evidence for assessment Provides links to evidence to validate assessment Allows for the use of multimedia files as evidence as well as print Makes the process easier for assessors and verifiers Makes multiple assessment of the same evidence possible to meet different assessment requirements

Transition Available any time anywhere Develops in scope and content as person moves through different learning contexts Makes detail and relevant summaries of experience and achievement available in different formats to different audiences Easy to transfer between provider institutions in terms of learning
