A Clean and Orderly Shop

What is your vision of a clean and orderly shop? We ALL should help produce and maintain a clean shop In Our Shop –Signal to stop work and clean up is “Clean Up” and should be the last 10 minutes of class –Every student helps with clean-up –Benches should be cleared of dust, scrap materials and YOUR items!! –Machines are clean –Tools are in their place –Lumber, metal and other materials are stored in their proper place –Projects are placed out of the way of traffic –Sinks are clean and orderly

Reasons for Keeping the Shop Clean Quick and efficient cleanup is important to safety Good reasons for cleaning the shop after each class, each day! Some are related to personal safety, some to learning efficiency, some to student comfort and convenience

Equipment and Containers Useful for Shop Cleanup Trash Cans –Cans are marked: Trash, Metal, Wood –Only these materials go in these cans! Brooms for sweeping the floor Metal scoop shovel to pick it up and place it in the correct container –DO NOT SWEEP THINGS DOWN THE FLOOR DRAIN!!! Clean up sinks Pick up paper towels Return shop coats to the coat tree by the door Return welding helmets to the hooks Return safety glasses to the box by the door.

System of Clean-Up All pitch in method. Everyone is responsible for cleanup.
