 Reading  Literature Circles  Class Novels  Informational Texts  Accelerated Reader--20 points required per quarter, Wednesdays R&R days  Writing—Informative, Argumentative, Narrative  Grammar  Speaking and Listening Skills

 A = %, B = 80-89%, C = 70-79%, D = %, F = less than 59%  Work missed when absent can be made up for full credit; it is the student’s responsibility to find out what he/she missed.  Late work (not absent work) will receive a maximum of 70% of the total score.  How can my child get good grades:  1. Come to school every day.  2. Do all the work.  3. Do your best work every assignment.

 Treat each other, the teacher, and all property with courtesy and respect.

 3-ring binder with dividers and binder paper  Composition Notebook (generally kept in class)  Writing implement  AR Book  UMS Planner

 Check Planner daily and make sure assignments get done.  Have them read a lot! UMS expectation is 30 minutes 5 nights a week.  Plan ahead—if there are any projects make sure they are not left until the last minute.  Check PowerSchool for update of grades/assignments
