My Overarching Priority as 2014 IEEE President  To lead IEEE into the next decades. Action : Promote thought leadership Challenge : How can IEEE play a larger role in fostering global innovation initiatives?

Specific Priorities as IEEE President 1.Guarantee that IEEE will have a leadership role in new technologies and in fostering and sustaining global innovation initiatives. Region 10 Opportunities: Cooperation with indigenous large corporations (from Director Wong presentation to IEEE BoD Last June)

Specific Priorities as IEEE President (2) 2. Continue the push for IEEE Globalization to ensure greater worldwide participation of members and volunteers, that will also guarantee the offering of better and regionally focused products and services across the globe. R10 Threat: Perception that IEEE is US-centric R10 Opportunity: Enlarged pool of volunteer leaders that can contribute beyond local and regional R10 Threat: Lack of equitable member benefits across global IEEE

Specific Priorities as IEEE President (3) 3. Develop benefits and services that will allow members worldwide to perceive IEEE as essential to their career development and professional success, including more on- line networking and learning opportunities. R10 Threat: Lack of equitable member benefits across global IEEE

Specific Priorities as IEEE President (4) 4. Position IEEE to remain relevant in the presence of modern networking and work partnership opportunities offered by new social media platforms that will become more powerful and appealing in future years.

Specific Priorities as IEEE President (5) 5. Promote an environment in which volunteers find enjoyment and enrichment in their activity and can balance their expectations and personal career goals with IEEE business requirements. R10 Threat: Competing associations and commercial entities reduces IEEE value proposition
