Life in North America Scientist believe that the Inuit people arrived by boat to settle the Arctic regions of Canada and Alasks. They lived in igloos – domed shaped homes made of ice and snow. They hunted their food. The Tlingit, Haida, and Chinook settled in the Pacific Northwest and survived by fishing. California was most populated because of abundant food resources.

Life in North America People in the Southwest leaned to farm the dry land and lived in houses made of sun dried mud brick. (adobe). Great Plains people farmed and hunted. People east of the Mississippi hunted and fished for food. Some Native Americans set up confederations that linked several groups. The Iroquois set up the most famous confederation.
