Distance Education Faculty Technology Workshop Agenda Learn how the Distance Learning Incentive Awards Program is structured to facilitate and reward the creation of quality distance education classes at Purdue Come to know the qualities of an exemplary distance education course Explore the self-evaluation rubric used by the program Discover what they should do to participate in the program

Distance Education Faculty Technology Workshop Goal & Eligibility Support and award Purdue faculty for the development of high-quality distance education courses at Purdue University – West Lafayette All faculty and staff: – West Lafayette campus – Statewide Technology sites

Distance Education Faculty Technology Workshop Restrictions Only one class may be submitted per instructor each year. Three years must elapse between submissions for the same class. Submitted courses must be developed and delivered via a LMS and be made accessible to TLT staff evaluators. Submitted courses must be accompanied by a sponsoring letter from the department.

Distance Education Faculty Technology Workshop Program Requirements 1.Attend a one or two-day session of Faculty Technology Workshops (scheduled for May , 2009 or June 29 th 2009); 2.Arrange an individual consultation session with consultant from TLT (Teaching & Learning Technologies) or CE (Continuing Education);individual consultation session 3.Fill out and submit the program’s Incentive Awards Program Course Submission Instructions and Form by the program due date, September 28, Submissions must be made online.Incentive Awards Program Course Submission Instructions and Form

Distance Education Faculty Technology Workshop Evaluation Process Upon submission of your application: TLT Consultants will evaluate your class according to the four areas described in the Course Submission Form –Course Design, –Interaction and Collaboration, –Assessment, –Learner Support. All courses submitted for evaluation will be assessed according to the criteria on the Incentive Awards Program Course Submission FormIncentive Awards Program Course Submission Form Evaluators will rate the course on a 5 point scale, with a average of 3 necessary in each area to qualify for an award

Distance Education Faculty Technology Workshop Evaluation Process Continued… Evaluators will return detailed comments with their evaluations to course developers If they wish, course developers may make changes to their course based on evaluator comments and re- submit their courses for a new evaluation (Until the final resubmission due date, January 30, 2009) The top ten ranked distance education courses will be selected to receive a $3,000 incentive award from TLT and will be recognized at a 2010 TLT Conference awards presentation.
