How was Renaissance art different from art in the Middle Ages? Medieval Art (middle ages) – subjects had little or no expression, stiff poses and figures not in proportion, Artists painted in tempera or egg based paint Renaissance Art – subjects had emotional expressions, natural poses and figures were in proportion. Artist painted in oil
