The idea was to achieve the effect of realistic space in a painting.
Later it becomes the major aspect of Renaissance paintings.

created a sense of movement and time. contrast to the type of art created during the Middle Ages/ Byzantine which are stiff and unnatural.

realistic clothing and facial expressions by studying the effects of shadow, light and space
3. Proportion
Renaissance painters were very aware of proportion, balance and harmony. They began to use models and studied the proportions of the human body.
