Music at Amherst School

Musical Facts As a school we play over 190 instruments! The most musical class is 5J, with 25 musicians We have 70 pianists, 35 guitarists, 23 violinists, 11 flautists, 6 trumpeters, 3 clarinettists, 1 trombonist 6 Debut Grade, 37 Grade 1, 14 Grade 2, 4 Grade 3, 1 Grade 4, 1 Grade 5 As a staff team we play piano, violin, oboe, flute, drums, trumpet, cello, saxophone, clarinet, guitar, voice and recorder (including four music specialists, eight Grade 8s and three Diplomas!)

Singing Glee Club (lunchtime ‘Come & Sing’) Training Choir (singing games and action songs) Amherst Choir (auditioned, Years 4, 5 and 6)

Instrumental Amherst Orchestra String Ensemble (violin, viola, cello) Wind Ensemble (flute, clarinet, saxophone) Brass Ensemble (trumpet, trombone, euphonium) Recorder Club Composing Club (Years 5 & 6) Djembe Drumming

Any Questions Auditions for Amherst Choir will take place at lunchtime this Wednesday and Thursday. This is open to all children in Years 4, 5 and 6. Current members need not audition. Please sign up on the list on Mr Clarke's door (4C).
