 Contributes to Poor Health  Foods commonly used as fundraisers provide unneeded calories and replace healthier food choices  Skyrocketing obesity rates among children are resulting in serious health consequences  Promotes the Wrong Message

NON-FOOD FUNDRAISING  Promotes a Healthy School Environment  Good nutrition is linked to better behavior and academic performance  The goal is to provide the best possible learning environment for children. Schools must also provide an environment that supports healthy behaviors

LONGFELLOW INSANITY MUD RUN In an effort to promote physical activity and healthy fundraising, Longfellow PTA organized an “Insanity Mud Run” fundraiser. Each student was encouraged to collect donations from sponsors to support their school. All students were invited to participate in a challenging muddy obstacle course that promoted physical fitness.

REAL RESULTS In Longfellow Elementary raised $8, in cash selling cakes, cookie dough, popcorn and other unhealthy products . In Longfellow Elementary raised $11, in a fantastic and extremely popular Mud Run
