April 8, Climates of the World Pgs IN: What are the three major climate zones?

 Terms:  PolarTemperateTropical  Objectives:  Locate and describe the three major climate zones. Terms and Objectives:

 Includes  Tundra-very dry, small plants due to permafrost.  Taiga-very cold, evergreens allow snow to fall off. Polar: Between degrees latitude.

Inclu des: Temperate forests-cold winters/warm summers, deciduous and evergreens. Temperate grasslands-not enough rain for trees, the prairies. Chaparrel-cool wet winters/dry summers, short shrubs with waxy leaves. Temperate deserts- hot days/cold nights, low humidity Temperate: degrees latitude

 Includes:  Rain forests-Strong sunlight and lots of rainfall causing poor soil.  Tropical Deserts-Hot in the day and cool at night. Poor soil and many succulents.  Tropical Savannas-Very warm with long dry seasons. Mostly grass with few trees, many adapted to fire. Tropical: 0-30 Degrees

Finding Nemo? Polar (Include plants and animals as well as landscapes.) Temperate (On the back include four factors that affect climate) Tropical 0-30

OUT: How would you describe our climate?
