School Direct offers 2 types of training places: School Direct Training Programme is for high quality graduates who want to be part of a school team from day one. You may be eligible for a bursary of up to £20,000 to support you while you train. School Direct Training Programme (salaried) is an employment-based route for high-quality experienced graduates with at least three years’ work experience. You will earn a salary while you train.

A UK undergraduate degree or a recognised equivalent qualification. A GCSE grade C or above in English and mathematics. A GCSE grade C or above in a science if you are applying to teach primary or key stage 2/3 (ages 7–14). to have passed the literacy and numeracy professional skills tests before starting teacher training. for a place on the School Direct Training Programme (salaried), you are required to have at least three years’ work experience in addition to the eligibility requirements detailed above.

School Direct Training Programme (salaried) You will be paid a salary by the school in which you train. You will not need to pay fees to cover the cost of your qualified teacher status (QTS) award. You will not be eligible for a training bursary. School Direct Training Programme You will need to pay tuition fees of up to £9000 to cover the cost of your course. You could be eligible for a tax-free bursary of up to £20,000, depending on the subject you want to teach and the degree class that you hold

Application Process Key dates 1 st November 2013 Apply 1 begins – you can now start to apply online for courses starting nd January 2014 Apply 2 starts – if you aren't holding an offer from Apply 1, you can now continue to apply online, adding one choice at a time. 15 th September 2014 The last date you can submit an application in Apply st October 2014 The last day you can add choices in Apply 2.

Recruitment Process Presentation to selection panel 5 minutes plus questions choice of titles given in advance Literacy & Numeracy assessment Not necessary if skills tests already passed Classroom based task 30 minute activity presented to a class with follow up discussion Formal interview
