LSIS: the Quality Improvement Agency (QIA) and the Centre for Excellence in Leadership (CEL) have now come together to form the new sector-led organisation dedicated to supporting excellence and leadership development in the further education and skills sector. Working in Partnership to deliver Skills for Life

Aim To support the development of internal and external partnerships by: identifying partners considering partners expectations, roles and responsibilities developing communication channels exploring the requirements for effective delivery evaluating different approaches to partnership working.

Meeting expectations Skills for Life is being delivered in partnership. What are the expectations of these different groups of people? LSC employers learners NVQ assessors Skills for Life tutors managers of NVQ provision managers of Skills for Life provision

Making the process work Have you thought about: partnership agreements? roles and responsibilities – who does what? vocational assessors? referral? initial assessment? learners needs and priorities? Skills for Life team? individual learners support and follow up? MIS tracking and monitoring?

Skills for Life in partnership We tell people they can go to their local college if they want to. We have a partner who delivers Skills for Life. We work closely together so everyone who would benefit has a Skills for Life learning opportunity as well as an NVQ. We monitor uptake, progress and achievement. We have a contract with another provider, who we pay to deliver our Skills for Life provision for us. We deliver Skills for Life ourselves.

Setting up the partnership What do you need from your Skills for Life partner? What tools, processes and documents will you need?
