- Understand organisation and role of worker - Maintain safety at work - Communicate effectively - Recognise and respond to abuse & neglect - Develop as a worker

Managers & supervisors don’t need an A1 award to assess Cross reference with DANOS units Relevant for all competency based routes. OCN and NVQ Supports core underpinning knowledge New standards for managers now available

14 Joining a Partnership Contact your Skills for Care regional office for a list of partnerships in your area Contact partnerships to find out what they offer and ask about administration charges & fees Request partnership pack Register with NMDS-SC Submit claims to lead partner as units completed.

15 European Social Fund Set up to improve employment opportunities in the EU 100% subsidy for training Mainly aimed at disadvantaged groups and small to medium sized employers (under 250 staff) Partnership bids

Supports the costs of training your workforce Fully funds NVQ level 2 & 3 ….but must meet criteria! Funds skills for life at all levels Provides impartial skills brockerage.

- Now includes volunteers - 20% of qualifications can be for those with previous qualifications - 42% employer contribution required Lack of occupationally competent assessors and clarity re the 20%

Social care funding for local authorities Funding proved by the Department of Health to LA social services departments Support the training of social care staff across statutory, private & voluntary sectors Support varies – contact LAs you contract with to request information on training opportunities funded through the DOH
