Slide 2 | Show pictures and elicit from students the words in English. Tell them they’re similar to the words in Portuguese. Answers appear one click at a time. Drill pronunciation of items and call sts’ attention to the differences between English and Portuguese pronunciation. Slide 3 | Click to show instructions and get students in groups. Tell them they have one minute to think of other words in English that are similar in Portuguese. Elicit a few examples: basketball, pizza etc. Give them one minute and check to see which group has more words. Slide 4 | Drill pronunciation of items and ask sts to talk in pairs about how the words are different in English and in Portuguese. Invite sts to come to the board and underline the stressed syllables in these words and compare to Portuguese. Slide 5 | Tell students they will learn how to talk to someone for the first time in English. Each slide has an expression. Read them aloud, explain them to students and ask them to repeat. Repeat procedures with slides 5 to 11.

Slide 12 | Show slide and ask students to unscramble the words to complete the conversation. Answers are shown one click at a time. Drill sentences. Slide 13 | Tell students it’s their turn to have a conversation in English. Do it once with the WG as an example, then ask sts to role-pay the dialogue in pairs. Slide 14 | Show slide to students and elicit the names of the items. Answers appear one click at a time. Ask them “Where can you find this kind of food?” and introduce “at a snack bar.” Slide 15 | Tell students they will see how to order food at a snack bar. Each slide has a sentence. Read them aloud, explain them to students and ask them to repeat. Repeat procedures with slides 15 to 22. Slide 23 | Tell students it’s their turn. Carry out dialogue with WG as an example and then ask sts to practise in pairs.
