American Red Cross Los Angeles Region Created 2/2012

ARC Mission Statement The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Seven Fundamental Principles Humanity Mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples. Impartiality No discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. Neutrality Not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies. Independence National Societies maintain their autonomy and act in accordance with the principles of the Movement. Voluntary Service Volunteer relief efforts not prompted in any manner by desire for gain. Unity One Red Cross/Red Crescent Society in any one country; open to all. Universality The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, in which all Societies have equal status and share equal responsibilities and duties in helping each other, is worldwide.

The Los Angeles Community The Los Angeles Region is the second largest Red Cross region in the nation, with 13 locations serving more than 9 million people (over 270 neighborhoods) in a 19,000 square mile area. Our volunteers and staff are prepared to respond around the clock, 365 days a year to assure that Red Cross services are provided when they are needed.* *Census 2010, LA Project Mapping
