ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Overview  Organised every second year in even years  European and World Ranking points available  Open for national teams from WOVD member countries in the European sub-zone  Minimum 2 teams per event  Maximum 6 teams per event  Weekend or long weekend events

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Who are potential Local Organisers (LOC)  Any LOC must be a member or supported by the National Paralympic Committee in World ParaVolley member countries in the European zone  LOC may be: ◦ National Paralympic Committee ◦ National Sport Federation ◦ Disabled Sport Federation ◦ Regional Sport federation ◦ Sport club ◦ Any local or national government body ◦ Any other organisation accepted by ParaVolley Europe ◦ Contract will be with NPC/Federation only

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Index  Finance  Fees  Local Organising committee  Venue facilities  Accommodation  Meals  Transport  Ceremonies  Meetings  Teams and officials  How to make a bid

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Finance  Participating teams are responsible for their own travel and accommodation  Participating teams will pay an Entry Fee and a Referee Fee to ParaVolley Europe  LOC will help with advice on travel/hotels ◦ LOC may also help booking hotels (block-booking to save costs)  LOC is responsible for all technical equipment, board and lodging for the International Technical Officers. ◦ Arrangement may be made to spread costs among participating teams  LOC is responsible for all sport facilities  LOC is responsible for all local travel between hotels and venue

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Fees  Fee for ParaVolley Europe ◦ Registration fee ◦ Referee travel fee ◦ Anti-Doping Charge (possible)  These fees will be invoiced by ParaVolley Europe  Fee for LOC ◦ Team participation fee  Typically to cover local travel  The amount of these fees is subject to negotiation between LOC and participating teams  These fees will be invoiced by LOC

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Venue facilities  The venue must at a minimum have ◦ Enough courts/time to play all matches required ◦ Competition formats will be standard and agreed between LOC and ParaVolley Europe  Will depend on team numbers and length of event  2 teams – 3 matches, 2 on day 1 and 1 on day 2  3 teams – probably round-robin, meaning 2 matches each  4 teams – probably round-robin, meaning 3 matches each  6 teams – to be determined (will depend on number of days) ◦ All necessary equipment as described in the rules ◦ Classification / massage room – if Classification is being done (and pre-arranged !) ◦ Medical room

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Accommodation  LOC must provide advice and details on accommodation for teams if requested ◦ NB – as LOC should provide travel between hotels and venue, it is sensible to accommodate all teams together  LOC should offer to block-book to save costs  LOC must prepare accommodation for international referees in single bed rooms  LOC must prepare accommodation for ParaVolley Europe Supervisor in single bed room

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Transport  LOC must advise on transport ◦ If venue and hotel are not within walking distance, LOC should provide transport, if teams do not have their own transport ◦ If venue and hotel are not within walking distance, LOC should provide transport for the International Technical Officers (ITOs)

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Ceremonies  Nothing is required, but some sort of informal opening/closing should be arranged for participants  Attention must be paid to arrival/departure times  LOC may wish to provide medals/awards/certificates ◦ (certificate of participation/place should be a minimum)

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Meetings  LOC must find a space for the Supervisor to confirm tournament arrangements with team representatives and the ITOs.  An area of the hall would be acceptable only if no other options available.

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Teams and officials  Each team is allowed to enter the Championship with 17 team members  Appointed by Sport Department, ParaVolley Europe : ◦ Supervisor to oversee the tournament ◦ 2 World ParaVolley International Referees ◦ Enough local referees to make up the numbers ◦ Where appropriate and to limit costs, the Supervisor may be one of the appointed Referees. This will be decided by PVE Sport Department  International Referees should officiate any “final” that is played, depending on competition format

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Classification  If pre-arranged, Sport Department will provide classifiers  WOVD Classifiers will classify players who request this  The costs of the travel and accommodation for classifiers will be borne by the teams requesting classification ◦ More teams, less cost ◦ No pre-arrangement – no classification  LOC must provide classification facilities if agreed  Classification may mean changes to teams’ travel dates ◦ Extra days or earlier arrival may be required to cater for all players  Requests for classification MUST be made as soon as possible ◦ The earlier you apply, the better the chance that there will be classifiers available ◦ Do not attempt to book a few weeks in advance

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz How to make a bid  First send a letter / to ParaVolley Europe that you are considering making a bid for the Sub-Zonal Championship for your zone ◦ At this stage it is important for LOC to appoint the LOC International Manager able to communicate by in English. ◦ You should indicate whether your National Team will participate ◦ Whether the event is for Men or Women  After contact with ParaVolley Europe you will be asked to ◦ Make an electronic presentation of the venue and location (travel etc) ◦ Provide any further details as required by Sport Department  After acceptance of your bid your NPC/Federation and ParaVolley Europe will sign a contract describing the duties of ParaVolley Europe and LOC.

ParaVolley Europe 2014 / mcz Are you the next LOC ?
