Quality Working closely with ACC staff to implement Quality First: ACC’s Blueprint for Reform. Continued support of ACC Quality initiatives, such as NCDR and IC3. Increased support of ACC appropriateness criteria. Increased sharing of “best practices” and quality tools from institutions and chapter members. Collaboration with other societies such as American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Physicians (ACP).

ABIM approved Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Sessions for ACC Chapters ACC Emerging Faculty

MOC for Chapters ACC is committed to providing lifelong learning opportunities for cardiologists to maintain a high level of scientific knowledge and clinical skills necessary to deliver high quality health care. Chapter based MOC sessions combination of new individualized ACC Lifelong Learning Portfolios, participation in continuous quality improvement quality projects, and innovative new educational modules, which include the commitment to empowering patients as partners in care.

Enhancements in Communications Enhancing Advocacy /Practice management communications to members: –Payment reform –Provide feedback on payment cut impacts. –Submit comments on regulatory proposals. –HIT adoption –E-prescribing communication –Close partnership with BOG and ACC communications staff: Steve Erickson

Enhancements in Communications More interactive and unstructured BOG dialogue for creative brainstorming and idea swaps to: –Foster authentic dialogue –Stimulate meaningful deliberations –Discuss the “elephant in the room” –Engage all members of the BOG, not just the most vocal –Help others achieve their chapter’s mission

Enhancements in Communications Empower the grassroots to contribute their thoughts through their Governors. Convey the views, needs, thoughts and fears of the grassroots to the Board of Trustees. Open communication to the Board of Governors Steering Committee BOG Participation in Dr. Jack Lewin’s Blog.

Enhancements in Communications Breaking news and/or urgent messages will be coordinated through communications sent to the BOG and Chapter Executives via respective list serves in order for them to distribute via Chapter channels as appropriate. A coordinated slide set on healthcare reform and advocacy related issues is being developed for ACC leaders presenting at ACC Chapter Meetings throughout the Spring and Fall.

Enhancements in Communications Monthly updates to the Chapter Affairs Extranet with Advocacy/Practice Management news that Chapters can use in their respective newsletters. Updated FAQ with answers to “Hot Topics” will be posted to the Chapter Affairs Extranet and promoted via BOG Conference Call and Newsletter. Continued updates to run in BOG Update, however, there will be more efforts made to not just relay the news, but provide guidance on how to use it.
