Priority 1: Promote BSN Education Strategy 1 A: The Academic Progression Committee of the Vermont Action Coalition develops a Vermont-specific RN to BSN marketing plan to increase the proportion of nurses in Vermont with a BSN degree to 80% by 2022 Strategy 1 B: VONL partners with the State Board of Nursing to explore the commitment to establishing the BSN as entry level preparation and to determine guidelines to address “grand parenting” issues for nurses already in practice Strategy 1C: Promote achievement of higher levels of education from BSN to the doctoral level in order to have an adequate supply of nurses for clinical care, research, faculty and leadership

Priority 2: Enhance the operational effectiveness of VONL 2 A: VONL becomes a national affiliate of AONE and collaborates nationally to promote mutual learning and strengthen the nation- wide voice of nursing leadership 2 B: VONL expands partnerships and collaborates with local, state and regional organizations 2 C: VONL website serves as a resource for dissemination of best practices, innovations. research links, career development and networking opportunities 2 D: VONL uses technology to improve access to member surveys and quarterly meetings in various locations throughout the state

Priority 3: Influence legislative activity by recommending actions and publishing positions in response to public policy issues 3 A: VONL advocates on behalf of nursing to secure funding resources to ensure a qualified and diverse workforce 3 B: VONL partners with the state hospital association to monitor legislative activity and recommend actions to be taken in response to public policy 3 C: VONL partners with the state hospital association, the Green Mountain Care Board and other state-wide agencies and organizations to drive new community-based inter-professional delivery models across the care continuum to improve the health of local communities 3 D: VONL supports the efforts to have nurses seated on corporate, health-related and other boards and board level committees

Priority 4: Promote workforce development through active promotion of transformational leadership and healthy workplace principles 4 A: VONL supports collaboration between nursing and other health professionals to create and promote positive, safe and healthful practice work environments 4 B: VONL support models of transition to practice programs including VNIP and Nurse Residency Programs

Priority 5: Transform healthcare delivery in Vermont through evidence-based practice innovations and promotion of academic-practice partnerships to advance nursing research and education 5 A: In collaboration with local academic partners, VONL supports the development of resources to ensure that nurse leaders across the care continuum have the core competencies needed to lead in the changing health care environment 5 B: In collaboration with regional partners, VONL engages in innovative leadership development programs and actively supports mentoring and coaching 5 C: VONL accelerates the adoption and dissemination of innovative best practices through educational resources, tools and leadership development for nurse leaders at all stages of their career
