Which one is related to the computer Wiki?

Welcome to Waikiki! Wiki means “quick” in Hawaiian.

WIKI – WHAT I KNOW IS….. A wiki is powered by wiki software which was developed in 1994 by Ward Cunningham. A wiki is a Web site that allows for collaborative content through the simple creation and editing of multiple, interlinked Web pages.

QUICKY WIKI Quickly create and edit information for collaborative content. Quickly generates conversation between staff, users, and the general public. Quickly creates an online community. Quickly post current information on the Web Quickly enhance Web pages with software templates Quickly search, organize and find resources. Quickly add pictures, video, and text.

TRICKY WIKI Time is need for adding content and monitering. Unsavory content and inappropriate comments might be posted. Some training might be needed for members to use.

How Do I unlock the RCSAll4Music Wiki? Open your invitation. Click on the link under “to join or to decline”. Click “create an account” at the top of the page IF you do not already have an account. Click on “sign in” IF you already have an account. Create your username and password. Enter your school address. Click on “no” for “Create a Wiki”. Click on join.

You are now a member of our collaborative community.

Now, can you leave and find your way back? Click on the “sign out” button. Exit the internet. Enter the web address Click on “sign in” in the top right hand corner. Enter ID name and password

How Do I add content to RCSAll4Music Wiki? Open the content page heading in the left navigation bar for the material you would like to add. Click on the “Edit” tab at the top of the page. Add information to the page by typing or uploading files. Click on the “save” button to save the changes.

How Do I Get Started on my own page? Open Firefox. Type wikispaces in the search box. Click on wikispaces for educators. Proceed to bottom of page and you will see the question: “Already have an account? Sign in”. Click on this. Enter Username and Password May want to “uncheck” the “keep me signed in” box. Click on the “Create a Wiki” at the top of the page.

Write up your homepage. If you don't want people changing the homepage you can make it a protected page. Create more pages on topics you want people to discuss. Create pages for those topics. Build your navigation bar. Choose your privacy level. Invite people to join you new site.

To receive credit for today’s workshop, you must do the following assignment: HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT You must add one flip chart on one page of the RCSAll4Music Wiki.

JOIN THE DISCUSSION Enter the web address Click on “sign in” in the top right hand corner. Click on the discussion tab. Click on the Wiki Workshop Evaluation. Type in your comments in the “Reply” box. Click on the “post” button.
