Management The process of planning, organizing, staffing and controlling is called management. The process of achieving the goals by using the minimum resources of organization is called management. AZHAR. ALI2

New perspective of MGT Management is generally considered to have three dimensions i.e. technical, conceptual and human. The technical dimension consists of the manager’s functional expertise in accounting or engineering or marketing. Conceptual dimension consists of guiding and motivation the employees. Human dimension consists of retaining and satisfying the employees in organization. AZHAR. ALI3

Definition : The understanding,prediction and management of human behavior in organizations.

Relationship with other fields It has relation with organization development, it helps the manager to develop the organization by providing training to the employees. It is applied in HRM, they study it for coordination between the employees and move the organization smoothly. It also helps in motivation of employees to enhance their capabilities and make them more productive. AZHAR. ALI5

Management approach Organization behavior attempts to provide the specific, necessary background and skills to make the managers of today and tomorrow as effective with conceptual and human dimensions of management as they have been in the past with its technical, functional dimensions. Theoretical frameworks Cognitive framework: Cognition means Act of knowing an item of information. Under this framework cognitions precedes behavior and constitute input into the person’s thinking perception, problem solving, and information processing. The social cognitive process can be combining theoretical framework for both cognition behaviorism. AZHAR. ALI 7

Conti… Behavioristic framework: It forces that cognitive processes such as thinking, expectancies, and perception may exist. It helps in organization for development and organizing of different races and thinking's. AZHAR. ALI8

Conti… Social cognitive framework: The social part acknowledges the social origins of much of human thoughts action, whereas the cognitive portion recognizes the influential contribution of thought processes to human motivation, attitudes and action. AZHAR. ALI9

The importance of studying organizational behavior (OB) OB applies the knowledge gained about individuals, groups, and the effect of structure on behavior in order to make organizations work more effectively. It is concerned with the study of what people do in an organization and how that behavior affects the performance of the organization. It is also important because it focus on the following areas. OB is a way of thinking. OB is multidisciplinary. There is a distinctly humanistic orientation with OB. The field of OB is performance oriented. The external environment is seen as having significant impact on OB. AZHAR. ALI10

Contributing Disciplines to the OB Field Organizational behavior is an applied behavioral science that is built upon contributions from a number of behavioral disciplines. The predominant areas are psychology, sociology, social psychology, anthropology and political science. Psychology: Psychology is the science that seeks to measure, explain and sometimes change the behavior of humans and other animals. AZHAR. ALI11

Conti… Sociology: Sociologists study the social system in which individuals fill their roles; that is, sociology studies people in relation to their fellow human beings. Social Psychology: An area within psychology that blends concepts from psychology and sociology and that focuses on the influence of people on one another. AZHAR. ALI12
