Significance Of Helen Keller

A Bit of Background Information As a child Helen was diagnosed with meningitis which caused her to become blind. She had a special teacher- Anne Sullivan taught Helen how to spell (As she was deaf as well as blind). As you probably guessed, life for her was hard.

What Is This About? I would like to explain to you the significance of Helen Keller and how today society has learned from her to change the welfare and rights that the deaf and blind have.

Growing Her Reputation During Helen's college years attending Radcliffe College she achieved an unbelievable amount and her recognition started to bloom! She met John F. Kennedy to (president of the United States of America). Keller was even lucky to publish her own book called "The Story of My Life". She also published four other books in relation to herself. In 1918 Keller made her first Hollywood movie to dramatize the blind.

The Last Strand Sadly, in 1936 Helen's teacher Anne Sullivan died which obviously, caused an impact on her life. Time past, gradually, over time and her book, The Storey of My Life, was turned into a television drama that brought a tear to everyones eyes. The drama included all her achievments and break through but, suddenly, that came to a abrupt end when in 1961 she suffered from a series of strokes which lead to her death.
