2. Helen Keller was born on June 27 1880 in Alabama. She was a healthy child. But when she was 19 months old she had a very high fever for three weeks. The high fever had left her deaf and blind.

3. When she was seven years old she started throwing tantrums. Her parents knew she needed help. They found a teacher named Anne Sullivan. Anne Sullivan was blind but then she had undergone an operation. The operation was a success One day, Anne took Helen to a water pump to pump water.

4. Anne held Helen's hand under the water, then she spelt the word water on her other hand. The feeling turned into a word. It was a miracle! That same day Helen had learnt 30 new words. When she was 20 years old she attended Radcliffe College. Then she wrote a book called ‘The Story of My Life’.

5. Thanks to Anne Sullivan, Helen visited thirty nine countries in five different continents. She also raised money for different charity’s like ‘The American Foundation for the Blind’ and ‘The American Foundation for the Overseas Blind’. Anne Sullivan stood with Helen for more than fifty years. Helen Keller died in 1968.
