Maternal and Child Health Public Health Catalyst Program HRSA FY 2015 Funding Opportunity Announcement Pre-Review Orientation Call Division of MCH Workforce Development Maternal and Child Health Bureau Health Resources and Services Administration

Overview Project Period: Five (5) Years June 1, 2015 – May 30, 2020 Eligibility: Public or nonprofit private institutions of high learning Type of Award: Grant

Purpose 1)Provide an increased focus on fundamental MCH content and competencies within schools of public health where no concentration currently exists 2)Provide MCH content exposure to an increased number of public health students, introducing students to careers in the maternal and child health field 3)Provide MCH exposure to graduate students, including individuals from underrepresented backgrounds (including racial and ethnic minorities), who are also underrepresented in the MCH field.

Introduction Describe purpose or proposed project and how it will: Provide introductory exposure to MCH for graduate students in accredited schools of public health Address the need to have greater diversity in the MCH workforce, including training individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.

Needs Assessment -Applicants must demonstrate that a course in fundamental MCH is not offered as part of core course offerings, electives, or as part of a certificate program within the School of Public Health. -Letter from Dean certifying no coursework in foundational MCH must be included as Attachment 1.
