3 Purpose 1)Promote the development of a culturally diverse health care workforce by recruiting undergraduate students from economically and educationally disadvantaged and racially/ethnically diverse backgrounds into maternal and child health (MCH) professions 2) Encourage and motivate students to seek careers in MCH by making undergraduate didactic, research, clinical and/or field experiences available and exposing students to Title V and other MCH agencies 3) Develop leadership skills, foster a broader public health perspective and explore the integration of primary care and public health to improve population health

4 Introduction Describe purpose of proposed project and how it will: Address the need to have greater diversity in the MCH workforce, including training individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, starting at the undergraduate level Provide introductory exposure to MCH for undergraduate students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds and from racially/ethnically diverse groups
