Tell me, I forget. Show me, I remember. Involve me, I understand. Chinese Proverb As a 21 st century teacher you have an opportunity create an environment like none other in your classroom through the use of digital media. The blended learning environment has become the wave of education for the 21 st century digital native (the digital learner). The level of engagement through the use of multimedia resources such as (Twitter, Facebook, videos, podcasts, online gaming, computer programming, Youtube and a host of Web 2.0 tools would revitalize your classroom in numerous ways. The 21 st Century Teacher

Look at it from this point of view the student you are teaching has a parent that was either a digital native born after 1985 or one that is a digital immigrant. Either way they are at the helm of technology upon awakening daily. You must move progressively into interactive learning trends in order to maximize the opportunity for conceptualization in the classroom to become reflective of real world learning. That’s when your classroom becomes the flagship for others……. Who Am I Teaching ?

“Education must be increasingly concerned about the fullest development of all children and youth, and it will be the responsibility of the schools to seek learning conditions which will enable each individual to reach the highest level of learning possible.” Let’s Define … Technology integration is the incorporation of technology resources and technology-based practices into the daily routines, work, and management of schools. Digital Literacy: is the ability to use digital technology, communication tools or networks to locate, evaluate, use and create information.

Instructional personnel shall be able to: ➢ Demonstrate effective use of a computer system and utilize computer software. ➢ Apply knowledge of terms associated with educational computing and technology. ➢ Apply computer productivity tools for professional use. ➢ Use electronic technologies to access and exchange information. Integration Standards ➢ Instructional personnel shall be able to: ➢ Identify, locate, evaluate, and use appropriate instructional hardware and software to support the Standards of Learning and other instructional objectives. ➢ Use educational technologies for data collection, information management, problem solving, decision making, communication, and presentation within the curriculum. ➢ Plan and implement lessons and strategies that integrate technology to meet the diverse need of learners in a variety of educational settings. ➢ Demonstrate knowledge of ethical and legal issue relating to the use of technology.
