1 INTASC Standards By: Michelle Dea

2 Standard 1: Knowledge of Subject Matter
The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the disciplines he or she teaches and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of the subject matter meaningful to the students.

3 Student Teaching Artifact:
PA Standards When doing the lesson plans the PA Standards are use to accurately plan the lessons per the age level of the group. Using the standards is helpful when your not sure what's next for the child.

4 Standard 2: Knowledge of
Human Development The teacher understands how children learn and develop, and can provide learning opportunities that support their intellectual, social, and personal development.

5 Student Teaching Artifact:
Pairing Students The students are paired up depending on the strengths. The teacher usually will pair the students to help each other vs two children on the same level.

6 Standard 3: Adapting Instruction
For Individual Needs The teacher understands how students differ in their approaches to learning and creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners.

7 Student Teaching Artifact:
Materials Different types of materials are offered for the children that need extra support. The center allows for therapist to come in for extra support for the children that need it.

8 Standard 4: Multiple Instructional
Strategies The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students’ development of critical thinking, problem solving and performance skills.

9 Student Teaching Artifact:
Individualized Instruction Weekly individualized instruction is completed per child. This gives the students an opportunity to be successful with what they know and not what the whole class knows.

10 Standard 5: Classroom Motivation
And Management Skills The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.

11 Student Teaching Artifact:
Center Management System There are signs in each center that have a number With pockets on it to let the children know how many Can be in each center. For example if the sign has Four on it four children can be in that center. This Management system is very effective.

12 Standard 6: Communication Skills
The teacher uses knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal, and medial communication techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.

13 Student Teaching Artifact:
Remind App In this classroom the teachers us an app called Remind to communicate with the parents. this has been very successful. They also use it to communicate with the other teachers.

14 Standard 7: Instructional
Planning Skills The teacher plans instruction based on knowledge of subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goals.

15 Student Teaching Artifact:
Planning Time Daily the teachers are given 1 hour away from the children to plan. During this time the teachers can prep, plan, or do something useful to the classroom. Often I would help plan for the following day.

16 Standard 8: Assessment of
Student Learning The teacher understands and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the learner.

17 Student Teaching Artifact:
Teaching Strategies The center uses an online assessment tool called Teaching Strategies. This tool allows them to input observations as well as assessments on a monthly basis for the parents to see and access. On this system it tells the goal for each child individually for each subject.

18 Standard 9: Professional Commitment And Responsibility
The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his or her choices and actions on others (students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community) and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally

19 Student Teaching Artifact:
Attended Professional Development on March 29th During this professional development the staff covered several important areas such as curriculum, assessments, and lesson planning. All the staff were given strategies to help them wisely use their time for planning.

20 Standard 10: Partnerships
The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support students’ learning and well being.

21 Student Teaching Artifact:
Parent Teacher Conferences During the week of Feb 14th. I was able to sit in on these conference and give my input to the parents. Before conferences the teachers and I were able to discuss the children's strengths and areas they need to work.
