Educational Outcomes

Module Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should: … have developed knowledge and understanding of the geography of a European region … have developed and practised fieldwork skills in geography … be able to work collaboratively within a group to design, implement and write-up a research project in an overseas field environment

Success? 7th year Staff satisfaction TQA - WWW format (Blackboard) Scores and comments Module Tenerife I Student Comments The field trip for this was really good and allowed me to get a real idea of the features of the island The unique learning environment was refreshing & stimulating This was a very organized module but it was contained too much work … it would have been nice to have finished before 10pm one night! Although hard work throughout, the field excursion was enjoyable and educational. The lecture course prepared you well for the field trip … Excellent module with a wide spread of interesting subjects. Amazing field Tenerife was really enjoyable - perhaps too much work in Tenerife, but this was compensated for less on return. The computer test I thought could have actually been made into a proper exam as the answers required were extremely hard

Conclusion WWW and IT resources are not a replacement for fieldwork Used to support an intensive field programme BENEFITS Maximises what students get out of the field trip Student-centered, resource-based learning Improvement in learning experience
