EURO EURO A High Intensity Neutrino Oscillation Facility in Europe Proposal submitted 2 nd May 2007 “Approved” ~ beginning August 07  highest mark ever received by DS (inc. ILC)  smallest budget cut of PP proposals (SLHC, ILC) Currently “negotiating” – slowly! Start date: 5 th February 2008 Budget: 13.7MEUR total, 4.0MEUR from EC Duration: 4 years, but funding mainly years 2-4

Aims “Small” funding means:  Specific projects  Limited ambitions for work Includes CERN to Frejus SB, NF and BB Main objectives:  CDRs for each facility  Physics and cost comparison  Provide information for next step for policy makers “CDR” means document that can be presented to appropriate European authority, i.e. CERN Council For NF, comprehensive CDR requires IDS!

Relationship to IDS NF work package: intrinsic part of IDS! Will form significant fraction of European contribution Comprehensive CDR requires IDS Not independent entities! Annual meetings: should be coincident with IDS [Proposal: November 2008: CERN November 2009: USA November 2010: RAL (Project review) November 2011: Paris]
