METRIC NOTES

WHO USES METRICS?  The entire world uses the metric system except: the United States, Burma and Liberia.  Used in science world-wide.

LINEAR MEASUREMENT  Line, Point to Point  1. Units: millimeter (mm), centimeter (cm), meter (m), kilometer (km)  2. Measurement device: ruler, meter tape

MASS  Weight or force of gravity.  1. Units: grams (g)  2. Measurement device: scale, balance scale.

VOLUME  How much space you take up.  1. Units: cm 3 (found by using a ruler. ml (found by using displacement, or water)  2. Measurement device: ruler (in 3 directions, graduated cylinder, beaker.

TEMPERATURE  How hot or cold something is.  1. Units: Celcius (C˚)  2. Measurement device: thermometer
