Setting up a timeline will require you to record the main events in the order in which they occurred. Your timeline cannot be on notebook paper. You can put it on construction paper, poster board, make it 3-D, suspend it, or use your creativity. All shapes are welcome, but keep in mind the amount of space I have available in the classroom when deciding on the size. Your timeline can be written by hand in pen, but typed is preferred.
