Canada Flag The flag of Canada was most recently adopted February 15, 1965. The red Maple leaf in the flag’s center is one of the Canada’s most recognized symbols. As you might guess the flag is nicknamed the Maple Leaf.

Population 33.5 million people live in Canada. There are Asian people, European people, Caribbean people, and Inuit people. There are large cities in Canada like Toronto, Montreal, Vancouuer and Calgary.

Language The three Languages in Canada are English, French and Inuktitut.

Government The leader is the prime minister Stephen Harper. Queen Elizabeth II of England rules over Canada.

Land of Canada Canada is on North America Canada is North of the United States. The Pacific Ocean is on the West Coast. The Atlantic Ocean is on the East Coast. Canada is divided into 10 Provinces and 3 Territories. The capital of Canada is Ottawa.

Climate The southwest coastal region of British Columbia has a mild wet climate. It rains a lot there. Snow covers the south central part of Canada. Regions in the north have an arctic climate.

Game and sports The two popular sports in Canada are Hockey and curling.

Life as a kid Unless it’s summer time kids wake up each morning and head to school. They study math and science. If they’re not in a hockey league they can play street hockey with their friends.

Money and Economy What is Canada’s money called? loonie and toonie What do farmers grow in Canada? Wheat, barley, fruit and vegetables. Most people on the Atlantic coast earn a living by fishing.

Holidays What are 2 holidays that Canada shares with the United States? Thanksgiving and Christmas What are 2 holidays that are unique to Canada? Canada day and National holidays.

Mounted police The mounties are Royal Mounted Police. They got the name from riding horses.
